What's for Dinner?

The dreaded question.  I used to cringe when my family would ask me, "what's for dinner?" because usually I had no idea what I was going to make or everything was frozen.   Does that sound familiar?  Preparing meals that are healthy as well as taste good is very important to me.  And I discovered that with a little planning ahead, I was able to prepare delicious, healthy meals without a lot of frustration.

The first thing I did was to plan out what I was going to make for the entire month.  Using my spreadsheet program, I created a calendar and then decided what I was going to make for dinner on each day.  Since we usually have leftovers, I made every other day during the week "left over" night.  My kids actually love left over night because they can have a little bit of all the things we had for dinner earlier in the week.   I usually cook with the help of a cookbook so I also included the page number of the cookbook that the recipe is on as well as the side dishes that I will prepare as well.    When I was finished deciding on a meal for each day of the month, I printed out my meal plan and attached to the refrigerator.  Now the kids simply look at the refrigerator to find out what's for dinner.  If you would like to have a template of my meal plan simply send me an email with "meal plan" in the subject.
